PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police have arrested a teenager for a shooting in June that left a 12-year-old boy seriously injured.

On the night of June 4th, police responded to reports of someone being shot in the area of N. Lehman Road and W. Nebraska Avenue. They found a 12-year-old boy who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Through the course of an investigation, detectives identified a 15-year-old boy as a suspect in the case.

On Monday, Peoria Police learned the 15-year-old was in custody at the Jacksonville Police Department for an unrelated incident.

Detectives served an arrest warrant, and the teen was extradited to Peoria. He was questioned by PPD and arrested for Aggravated Battery and taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
