ELLINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- It's about trading screens for a saddle, learning skills and building connections in Ellington.

Horses roam, and girls are unplugging from the busy day-to-day on 87 beautiful acres.

"We're an all-girls residential horseback riding camp. We have about 50 girls at a time," Laura Chandra, owner and director of SJ Riding Camp, said.

At SJ Riding Camp, there are 45 horses and ladies traveling from all over to take care of them and learn to ride.

"I love camp, it's one of my happy places. I get to do what I love, which is horseback riding, and I get to do it with my friends, which is great," Olivia Weil from New York City said.

Beginner riding, more advanced with obstacles, but the real bright spot of the day is swimming with horses!
