Building activity is up in Arran-Elderslie.

That’s according to the mid-year building report which compares this year so far to last year.

From January to August this year, 81 permits were issued. Last year during the same time span, 61 permits were issued.

The report says that’s a 32.8 per cent increase in permit issuances year-over-year.

The total permit value this year is $16,758,530 and in 2024, it was $11,782,880.

Staff say that’s a 42.3 per cent increase in total permit value.

The report says significant increases were seen in multi-family residential units, agricultural additions and renovations, and agricultural accessory buildings.

They add, “There was a notable decrease in single family dwellings, and residential additions and renovations.”
