Prep cross country runners throughout the Kanawha Valley learned where they stacked up against competition from the rest of the state with the release of the season’s first rankings on Wednesday.
It should be no surprise that in Class AAA girls, Herbert Hoover’s Maysen Fletcher, the sport’s reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, is ranked first with 906 points.
Fletcher’s closest competitor in the rankings was Emilia Tenney of Elkins, who is second with 792 points.
St. Albans’ Abigail Torman is ranked No. 5 with 649 points and Fletcher’s teammate, Jenna Brown, is ranked No. 10 with 590 points.
Fletcher isn't the only top girls runner in her class either. Charleston Catholic's Ella Boggs, with 785 points, was ranked No. 1 among the Class A girls.
