WRIGHT COUNTY, Iowa – A one-vehicle crash Sunday night killed one person and injured two more.
The Iowa State Patrols says it happened around 7:19 pm on R-38 in Wright County. Josue Castanon Coronado, 24, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt south when the passenger side of the car dropped off the edge of the road about eight miles south of Clarion. The State Patrol says Coronado lost control, hit a utility pole, and went into a cornfield. The Chevy Cobalt then caught fire.
The crash report says Coronado and two passengers were ejected from the car. Coronado and Antoni Emmanuel Castanon Coronado, 20, were injured. Michael Mendez, 36 of Webster City, was killed.
The State Patrol says none of the three were wearing a seat belt.
