(Rapid City, SD) — Black Hills Energy is giving local fire departments a boost with new safety grants. The company awarded 135 thousand dollars to volunteer departments across several states, including South Dakota. In the Black Hills, Black Hawk Fire got 25 hundred while Whispering Pines received close to a thousand. The grants help pay for much-needed gear and equipment so firefighters are ready when calls come in. Black Hills Energy says it’s now given out nearly eight million dollars in grants to more than 500 organizations over the years.
