LOS ANGELES – A person was fatally struck on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass on Monday.

The person, who appeared to have been standing outside a stopped vehicle on the right side of the roadway, was struck at about 1:55 p.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway at Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The unidentified person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video from the crash site showed a body covered with a tarp on the freeway, not far from a vehicle on the right side of the roadway, with a gas can also visible near the car. A flatbed truck, possibly the vehicle that struck the person, was stopped a short distance away.
