CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cuyahoga County Grand Jury indicted an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman who are accused of trying to escape a traffic stop that led to an officer-involved shooting near Case Western Reserve University last month.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said on Aug. 27, troopers attempted to pull over Leon Terrell, 18, and Noreonna Echols, 19, for not having a license plate on their Kia.

They allegedly refused to pull over.

A short time later, troopers said they used a device to flatten the Kia’s tires and Echols and Terrell fled on foot and tried to steal two vehicles.

Terrell and Echols were both armed, according to troopers.

Terrell was shot in the leg by troopers after a short foot pursuit. He was treated at University Hospitals.
