WASHINGTON —

The Senate Judiciary Committee is investigating allegations that children as young as 10 were exposed to bullying and adult content on a Facebook program, following leaked information from former Meta employees.

Former Meta employees have alleged that Meta targeted teenagers based on their emotional state on Facebook's virtual reality platforms. Meta is the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

Senators, including Chairman Chuck Grassley and Josh Hawley, are demanding answers from Zuckerberg, claiming Meta failed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) . COPPA gives parents with children under 13 control over the information websites can collect from their kids.
