A controversial $2 billion data center proposal in Union Township is the latest data center project to fail in Porter County.
Suburban Kansas City-based QTS Data Centers has withdrawn plans to develop a data center campus near Wheeler High School in unincorporated Union Township. Scores of residents spoke out against the proposal at a public hearing attended by hundreds at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso.
"As a good neighbor and responsible partner, QTS strives to be a long-term contributor to the communities we call home," QTS said in a statement. "Following ongoing communication with the County throughout the PUD process and a thorough evaluation, we have determined not to proceed with the project in Porter County, as the conditions proposed would be economi
