CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Shortly after Trey Hendrickson reported to Cincinnati Bengals training camp in late July, defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery received a text from the All-Pro. It was around 5:30 in the morning.
“Are you in the building?”
Montgomery was.
“He’d pop up (into my office) and we’d start rolling,” Montgomery said.
Hendrickson wasn’t around for OTAs or the first week of training camp, so he some catching up to do as the Bengals installed a new defense. He wasn’t practicing yet as he underwent a hold-in for the entirety of training camp.
“He wanted to learn what we were doing,” Montgomery said. “He wanted to make sure that when everything got situated, he was ready to play. I give him credit. No one asked him to do it.”
