FLUSHING, MI – The 48-year-old man who allegedly killed a 71-year-old woman in Flushing will undergo a competency evaluation.

David Randall Cocking, 48, was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery on July 15.

Cocking is accused of killing the elderly woman, who was found dead when police conducted a welfare check on her Flushing home on July 11.

Genesee District Court Judge Jeffrey Clothier granted the competency evaluation in August, according to court records.

Cocking will now undergo a competency evaluation at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Saline.
