U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville reiterated his support for President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard troops in Washington D.C., a move the president said was necessary to make the city safer.
In an interview on the Fox Business News program “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street,” Tuberville was asked about the lawsuit filed by D.C. officials against the president over the deployment.
“If I didn’t know better .. I would think they want to turn us into a third world country,” Tuberville said.
Tuberville mentioned that his first day in Washington was Jan. 6, 2021, when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol to try to stop the Senate from certifying Joe Biden’s win over Trump in the 2020 election.
