LUBBOCK, Texas ( KCBD /Gray News) - Two Texas sheriff’s deputies helping a stranded driver were seriously injured after a tractor-trailer hit their patrol car, pinning them between it and the interstate overpass.

Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputies A. Cavazos and J. Martinez were assisting a stranded motorist around 9:15 a.m. Monday on Interstate 27 when a tractor-trailer collided with their patrol unit, the sheriff’s office says.

The deputies were trapped between the disabled patrol unit and the guardrail of the 98th Street overpass. One deputy was seen dangling from the overpass by one leg.
