SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) — An annual race held in memory of a fallen pilot will return to a Smyrna park later this week.
The annual Top Gun Night Run 6K will return to the Town of Smyrna for its sixth year this Friday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Lee Victory Recreation Park.
Registration is open for the one-of-a-kind event honoring the life and legacy of Capt. Jeff Kuss, USMC.
Captain Kuss died while flying as Blue Angel #6 on June 2, 2016, during a training flight during the Great Tennessee Air Show. A husband and father of two, Kuss was only 32 years old at the time.
The 3.7-mile, chip timed, USATF-certified course offers participants a unique running experience through the Smyrna, Rutherford County airport and the Smyrna Municipal Golf Course, culminating at the Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Mem
