Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is the surprising choice as the new head coach of Brondby after impressing the Danish club.

The Welshman, 45, has recently turned down opportunities to manage EFL Championship clubs and has instead opted to try his luck on the continent.

He has been out of work since leaving Leicester City last year. after just 12 league games in charge at the King Power Stadium. It came after his earlier exit from the City Ground in his previous role.

His work with the England youth set up has impressed the Danish club who are said to value his ability to work with young talent and develop them.

He will see working at Brondby as a fresh challenge away from the glare of the British media and an opportunity to compete in Europe.
