MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Holly Springs Utility District was fined by the Mississippi Public Service Commission for failing to provide adequate electric utility service to its customers.

The state commission held a hearing on the city utility last week based on findings of a third-party investigator, with an opportunity for the city to respond.

Tuesday, the commission unanimously agreed that HSUD had failed to provide adequate service in violation of Mississippi code.

The city was fined $12,500 and will be fined each day they are found to be in violation, the state board said.

In addition to the fine, the commission will proceed with the initiation of receivership in Chancery Court.

HSUD customers have complained to WREG of poor service for years.
