(KRON) – A day after Jake Moody missed two kicks in the season opener, the San Francisco 49ers have waived the kicker.
“Obviously I was disappointed that we missed two field goals, and missed one which was a big miss, especially (because) I think we were inside the 10,” Head Coach Kyle Shanahan said.
Despite the Niners' Sunday victory against the Seattle Seahawks (17-13), Moody struggled quite a bit. However, this is not his first time. Last season, he went 24 of 34 on field goals, including 6 of 11 from 40 yards or longer.
On Monday, Shanahan said there was “no question” he would be San Francisco’s kicker next week against New Orleans. There has not yet been any word on the reasoning for the change of heart.
Moody was drafted as a third-round pick in 2023.
