NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – The New York City Council will consider a ban on the sale of menstrual and intimate care products with certain chemicals, including fragrances and dyes.
The bill, introduced by City Council Member Amanda Farías in May, will be considered at a committee meeting on Wednesday. If it passes, it will be sent to the full City Council for a vote.
Farías' bill expands on state legislation passed earlier this year that bans the sale of menstrual products containing fragrances, dyes, and forever chemicals, or PFAS. New York City's legislation will broaden the ban to include intimate care products, like douches, lubricants, and wipes.
