CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The Chesapeake Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred Tuesday morning around 9:45 a.m. on the 3300 block of Western Branch Boulevard.

Authorities responded quickly to the scene, and identified the suspect as Carlos Nixon Jr.

Nixon reportedly approached the bank teller and demanded money after threatening to have a gun, police said. Nixon then fled on foot with "an undisclosed" amount of money.

When 13News Now arrived at the scene around noon on Tuesday, one police car was still on the property and it appeared bank employees were still in the building.

A bright green sign was also on the door and stated, “this office is temporarily closed due to an emergency,” and mentioned other nearby locations customers could go to instead.
