KINGSTON – A 47-year-old Saugerties man was sentenced on Monday to one to three years in state prison in connection with a March 31, 2023 hit-and-run accident resulting in serious injuries to the victim.

Alfredo Martinez had previously pled guilty in Ulster County Court to vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an incident resulting in serious physical injury without reporting it, and driving while intoxicated.

The victim was driving her car on Route 9W just before 7 a.m. when Martinez’s vehicle crossed the double yellow line and hit her head-on.

Martinez fled the scene and ran to his home on Village Drive in Saugerties.

He refused a chemical test, but a court-ordered blood draw showed that his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.
