CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A nearly four-year-old shooting that left one man dead was set to go to trial, but instead is being held up by courtroom logistics, frustrating the parties involved.

Willie Leo Darby, 27, was charged with murder and a weapon charge in connection with the Nov. 13, 2021, shooting death of 29-year-old Michael Warren.

The trial for this crime screeched to a halt Tuesday morning, however, when a judge ruled the prosecution couldn’t use certain DNA and phone evidence. The judge ruled that the state had gone back and conducted a search of the phone contents as recently as last month, against a court agreement to use the original results.
