Great British Bake Off fans declared that ‘it’s impossible’ just minutes into what was a ‘really hard’ biscuit week on the programme.

The Channel 4 phenomenon returned for its 16th season last week, with 12 bakers heading into the iconic tent for the first time.

With Prue Leith back on judging duties with Paul Hollywood after missing the celebrity edition earlier in the year, it was a hectic opening to the season.

Presenters Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding were back presenting, with the bakers having to take part in the Signature, the Technical, and the Showstopper challenges.

The opening episode saw Nataliia, who moved to the UK from Ukraine with her husband four years ago prior to war breaking out, being crowned the series’ first star baker.
