The National Transportation Safety Board released its initial findings on a deadly plane crash in Clay County.
The preliminary report said a Cessna 340A took off from Washington Regional Airport in Washington, Missouri, around 11 a.m. on Aug. 27. Advertisement
The small plane headed toward the Midwest National Air Center Airport in Mosby, Missouri, cruising at approximately 4,500 feet.
About 25 miles from the airport in Mosby, the plane descended and entered a traffic pattern to turn left, the report said, but the altitude was lower than normal. The plane continued to descend.
A witness who lived near the crash site described the plane as “low and slow.” The plane’s left wing reportedly “dipped down” for a moment, returned to the correct level and then dipped again.
