Great British Bake Off viewers were feeling relieved as the series' early fan favourite 'saved herself' with a 'beautiful' Showstopper.

The second episode of the popular Channel 4 programme aired on Tuesday night (September 9), with Leighton becoming the second contestant to be eliminated by Prue Leith and Paul Hollwood, just a week after thirty-year-old scientist Hassan, from Rotherham.

As usual, things began with the Signature challenge , where the bakers had to make 12 sliced and baked biscuits that each contained a picture hidden inside it.

Up next was the Technical challenge, with the bakers having to make 12 chocolate hobnobs , topped with a thin layer of caramel and with two different feathered chocolate designs.
