Craft beer, live music and community spirit will be on tap in Matheson on Saturday, Oct. 4, as the annual OctoBeer Festival returns in support of the Floyd Hembruff Civic Centre.

Organized entirely by volunteers, the day offers two separate highlights — a 5K Fun Run along a forested trail at noon, followed by the main OctoBeer Festival from 1-11 p.m.

During the run, participants complete five one-kilometre laps of a trail, with a sample from one of the festival’s breweries offered after each lap. Admission is $25 and is open to athletes of all abilities. Runners will receive a race bib at the start and a Matheson OctoBeer Festival medal at the finish.

Committee member Tamy Peever said the festival began in 2019 as a fundraising idea from young curling club members.
