(WHTM) -- Pennsylvania's own returned from fighting fires in the Rocky Mountains.

Firefighters from Penns Woods Type II Initial Attack crew spent 14 days there fighting and containing active wildfires. A rotation from the state has been in Colorado throughout the summer.

"It's a huge undertaking to do a fire like this," said Ryan Kuhnes, crew boss of Penns Woods. "The fire we were on, the Derby Fire, was about 5,700 acres, and it's a huge undertaking. It's not just putting the fire out, but there's a lot of work to be done after that happens."

The fire is still active, the crew said, but more manageable than it was before.
