LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - There are still several questions surrounding Laken Snelling, the former University of Kentucky student athlete accused of birthing a baby boy and placing him in a trash bag inside a closet at a Lexington home.

While those a part of this investigation have remained tight-lipped, people all over the nation have created their own theories on why this happened.

“The first human reaction is that people are mad and angry and they want someone to blame,” said Ronnie Bowling, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 34th Judicial Circuit.

Bowling is not involved in the Snelling investigation, but he’s worked several high-profile cases involving the deaths of children.

He said social media can sometimes do more harm than good and can often be the catalyst for misinformation.
