PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Five people were taken to the hospital Tuesday after a crash between a car and a RIPTA bus.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. in the area of Charles and Corliss streets.
A city spokesperson told 12 News the initial investigation showed the driver of the car failed to yield and then hit the bus, which had 12 students on board at the time.
The driver of the car, the bus driver and three of the students were taken to the hospital, according to the spokesperson, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
The spokesperson said the driver of the car was cited by a traffic officer.
