Duke quarterback Darian Mensah knows he will feel different returning to Yulman Stadium a year after leading Tulane to its third consecutive American Conference championship game.

The 6 p.m. ESPN2 affair between the Green Wave (2-0) and Blue Devils (1-1) will take place in a super-charged atmosphere, with fans venting their frustration at the timing of his departure for a reported massive NIL deal as much as his actual leaving. Sources indicated he told some of his teammates of his plan before the Wave’s title-matchup debacle at Army last December.

Mensah’s numbers were solid—he went 17 of 25 for 209 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception—but he took heat for Tulane’s uncharacteristic, unfocused performance in the 35-14 loss.
