As Premier Doug Ford threatens to get rid of speed cameras in Ontario, one Ottawa city councillor is defending them as a vital tool for community safety.
"It's nothing but a tax grab," Ford told reporters on Tuesday. "Hopefully the cities will get rid of them, like Mayor Del Duca did in Vaughan, or I'm going to help 'em get rid of them very shortly."
Ford was responding to questions about a fresh wave of vandalism that damaged another 16 Toronto speed cameras overnight Monday. He said he's "dead against" the cameras and argued that flashing signs are a better idea for reducing speeds.
