JENKS -- Two years ago, Union entered the MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl with a 2-0 record while Jenks was 0-2.
Final score: Jenks 31, Union 24.
This year, the roles are reversed. Jenks, ranked No. 2 in Class 6AI, is 2-0 and sixth-ranked Union is 0-2. But 2023 was another example that anything can happen and often does in the Jenks-Union rivalry.
And when the 22nd annual MidFirst Bank Backyard Bowl is played Friday night at Jenks' Allan Trimble Stadium, the '23 edition is a reminder to Jenks players that they can't afford to overlook past Union with a showdown and district opener against No. 1 Bixby looming on Sept. 26.
