CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The U.S Secretary of Transportation is threatening to withhold federal funds over Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska's murder on the light rail in Charlotte.

A political science expert says the tragedy has become politicized because of the release of the video of her death.

Charlotte City Council members were already addressing security on the light rail about two weeks before President Donald Trump weighed in following the attack, when he was asked by the media about the incident.
