ALBANY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- The U.S. Department of Justice said it's either already deported or will deport up to 57 immigrant workers detained in the raid of a Cayuga County food processing plant last week, a federal prosecutor said September 9, but was not able to provide evidence that any of the people had violent pasts.

NewsChannel 9 was seated in the front row of a briefing hosted by the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York, John Sarcone. The conference was the first time anyone from the federal government was willing to discuss the biggest local immigration bust yet.

Sarcone confirmed 57 people were detained. 52 of them are facing deportation for the misdemeanor of first-time illegal entry into the United States.
