WALLINGFORD, Conn. — While tickets in Missouri and Texas won the $1.787 billion Powerball prize last Saturday, Connecticut lottery players didn’t miss out on the winnings entirely.
CT Lottery reported Tuesday that the Sept. 6 drawing resulted in five tickets sold in Connecticut worth $50,000 or more.
There were also over 120,000 tickets sold in the state that won lower-tier prizes.
A man in Plymouth reportedly won $100,000 after his $50,000 prize instantly doubled because he purchased the Power Play option.
The CT Lottery team says the man selected the quick pick option to choose his winning numbers. He previously won $30,000 playing a scratch game.
Upon learning of his victory, the man told his wife and double checked the numbers on the CT Lottery website .
