LANDIS — South Rowan edged East Rowan 5-4 in a tight South Piedmont Conference match on Monday.
South (2-5, 2-5) won at 1, 4 and 6 singles with Sophie Steedley, Kynlee Carey and Jayden Overcash.
The Mustangs (1-7, 1-6) countered with wins at 2,3 and 5 for a 3-3 tie after singles. Caroline Quick, Mady Morris and Abby Hamill were winners for the Mustangs.
Steedley-Audrey Daniel won easily at No. 1 doubles for South, but Quick-Kenzie Carrico won for East at No. 2 doubles.
The difference in the match was an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles by South’s Kayleigh Draughn-Overcash against Hammill-Joyci Luna.
