Nestled in the corner of James River Equipment's property along Old Concord Road, several isolated gravestones are all that remains of a graveyard that is over a century old.
SALISBURY — Cynthia Moore-Stanfield was driving along Old Concord Road one day when an unusual sight caught her eye, a small graveyard tucked into the edge of the James River Equipment, in between large pieces of equipment.
She turned around to take a closer look and found a tiny cemetery marked off by the owners, with about five graves still standing.
That left the retired history teacher with more questions than answers, questions Moore-Stanfield said she took to Steven Young with James River Equipment.
