Staunton police are looking for a man they say attempted to abduct a child from the city’s Gypsy Hill Park on Saturday.

Police said a 911 call was received at 5:15 p.m. Saturday reporting that a child was approached by a man in Gypsy Hill Park. The man attempted to grab the child, the caller said. The man left the park in a van prior to officers arriving, police said.

Any person who was at or near the west end of Gypsy Hill Park on Saturday at the time of the incident and has information regarding the matter should call the Staunton Police Department at (540) 332-3842.
