MINDEN, Iowa —

Developers gave an update to the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors Tuesday on the recovery for the town of Minden after an EF-3 tornado in April 2024.

The Arbor Day Tornado Outbreak destroyed much of the town, and the town partnered with McClure developers to work on applying for grants to help fund the rebuilding process over the past year. However, there is still much to do, according to Minden Mayor Kevin Zimmerman.

"We lost a lot of businesses, and we lost like 40% of homes. A lot of the homes have been rebuilt or have plans to get rebuilt, a lot of the businesses are back," Zimmerman said. "The biggest thing is we just got to get families back here."
