Australia’s second largest bank has been accused of “betraying” hundreds of Aussies workers and their families as it outsources jobs to India and Vietnam.
NAB is making cuts in its technology and enterprise operations division, impacting 728 workers and permanently slashing 410 jobs, according to the Finance Sector Union.
The bank also intends on establishing 127 new roles in India and Vietnam.
The revelation comes just one day after ANZ revealed it will slash about 3500 jobs and 1000 contractors as it restructures its operations.
FSU national president Wendy Streets said the jobs cuts by the two major banks was “shameful”.
“This isn’t one rogue bank, it’s the whole sector driving the same agenda at the expense of workers and communities,” Ms Streets said.
