ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY)-Major infrastructure work is underway in Saint Martinville to address water issues that have impacted the city for years.

St. Martinville received a total of $15 million through the state's Water Sector Program. The funds became available after the city consolidated its water system with Water District 4 in Catahoula.

Mayor Jason Willis aims to resolve ongoing problems such as water leaks and regular shutoffs.

"We got like a 15-million-dollar grant between Catahoula and Saint Martinville in the district of the parish...but I think about 8 million of that money is being spent on Saint Martinville's water system," said Willis.
