TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson City Council just voted to help firefighters battling job-related cancer.
Dozens of firefighters from Tucson and beyond urged the city council Tuesday, September 9, to allow adenocarcinoma to be labeled as a presumptive cancer – and city councilors made it happen, setting a precedent for the state.
It’s a fight that’s been going on for more than a year and a half, with two Tucson firefighters’ claims being rejected by the city’s insurance due to some grey area surrounding adenocarcinoma being a presumptive cancer.
However, Dan Freiberg, President of the Professional Firefighters of Arizona, said the state law and the Industrial Commission of Arizona have confirmed it to be one.
