WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. —

Nearly $2.5 million worth of land was recently sold throughout Westmoreland County.

It happened on Monday at the county’s annual tax auction. 162 properties were put up. That was almost a record amount of dollars for one auction. Advertisement

“I think it is encouraging to see that there are people out there that are willing to say, ‘Hey, we want to invest in Westmoreland County,’” Tim Andrews, Westmoreland County’s Assistant Solicitor, said Tuesday. “We were hoping for that. It was close to a record.”

$2.475 million from Monday’s auction will be spread throughout the towns and municipalities of Westmoreland County.
