The city of Fort Wayne and police say officers involved in a shooting that killed a 66-year-old woman earlier this year were not at fault, according to court documents.

The statements were in response to a lawsuit filed by Dana Hepworth-Wilson, the son of Patricia Hepworth. Officers were investigating a parole violation when Hepworth was fatally shot, police have said.

Hepworth-Wilson is seeking damages for violations of constitutional rights, along with attorneys’ fees and legal costs and all other just and proper relief, the lawsuit says. The wrongful death action was filed against the city and Officer Michael Carrier, along with two officers identified only by last name – Begals and Munger, who was misidentified as Mugersingo in the original lawsuit.
