The City Council Wednesday is expected to override Mayor Eric Adams’ veto of a bill aimed at raising wages for app-based grocery delivery workers.

Back in July, the Council passed legislation to require companies like Instacart to pay delivery workers a minimum of $21.44 an hour. But Adams vetoed that bill last month, arguing it would raise grocery prices for consumers.

The back-and-forth comes amid an already strained relationship between the Council and the Adams administration.

Councilmember Sandy Nurse, who represents the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bushwick, Cypress Hills and Brownsville, and Councilmember Jennifer Gutiérrez, whose district includes Williamsburg, Bushwick and Ridgewood, Queens, joined “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss the override of the bill they co-sponsored.
