Toledo City Council shot down legislation that would have repealed a 25-year-old zoning ordinance.

Council voted 11-1 on Tuesday against legislation that would have reversed a conditional zoning ordinance for the properties located from 606 to 636 S. Byrne Rd. and 3550 to 3636 Angola Rd.

Councilman Adam Martinez, who proposed the legislation, was the sole vote in favor of it.

“The concern is that if … a property owner is able to assemble all the proper parcels of land it would automatically get rezoned light industrial, which means you can put anything there that falls within the guidelines of light industrial with no communication from the neighborhood or the surrounding businesses,” Mr. Martinez told The Blade after the meeting.
