WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Gov. Laura Kelly joined Wichita leaders Tuesday to mark the first graduating class of Yingling Aviation’s Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Registered Apprentices.
Kelly said the program reflects the goals behind the state’s Office of Registered Apprenticeships, created three years ago. “Workforce has always been a huge issue for our businesses all across the state,” she said. “Here in Wichita, with the aviation industry as huge as it is, the need is constant.”
According to the governor, more than 1,000 employers now participate in apprenticeship programs across Kansas, with more than 3,500 registered apprentices — the highest number in state history.
