NEWTON, Kan. (KSNW) — Age is just a number for one Newton man. Mel McAnulty, 93, goes to the Newton YMCA multiple times a week and has for years.

"Normally, I get on the track and walk a quick mile," McAnulty explained. "Very few people pass me; I pass a lot."

McAnulty has lived in Newton for 54 years. If he's not at home, you'll probably find him at the gym.

"You come here and meet new people and you're really involved more with what's going on in the community and create friends and so forth," he added.

After his mile warm-up, McAnulty goes through a weightlifting routine several times a week. His continued persistence with health at the age of 93 is inspiring to those who see him in action.
