The Cubs will be without one of their big sluggers for at least a little while longer.

Chicago placed outfielder Kyle Tucker on the 10-day injured list — retroactive to Saturday with a strained left calf.

Tucker, 28, has not been in the lineup since Sept. 2.

Manager Craig Counsell said over the weekend during the Cubs’ series that he did not expect the four-time All-Star to land on the IL for the calf issue.

“At this point, I don’t know,” Counsell told reporters Tuesday before the Cubs took on the Braves in Atlanta. “I’m hopeful, but I think I was wrong in terms of avoiding the IL. We just have to get to a point where he’s not symptomatic and not feeling it doing baseball activities.”
