MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The NYPD is warning New Yorkers about a potential terror threat against some of the city's East River crossings.

At a Tuesday evening news conference, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, "We are monitoring threats against New York City critical infrastructure, including bridges and tunnels, connecting Queens and Manhattan. As always, we take all threats seriously and we are working with our federal partners through our joint terrorism task force as we investigate."

Tisch also said it was "based on threat reporting, which typically increases this time of year around the anniversary of 9/11, the U-N General Assembly, and the Jewish High Holidays."

An NYPD official said off-camera that the threat is "uncorroborated and unsubstantiated" at this point.
